Story

My next challenge - An endeavour to set a new world record for the furthest distance handcycled in 24 hours.

I will be attempting this while racing CroUltra, the 24-hour Ultracycling European Championships in Croatia on May 29-30. Supported by AGS expedition volunteer and most generously, crew-person - Stuart Doughty.

Endurance sport has taken me on an incredible journey — one that has continually shaped my life and career since discovering parasport as part of my rebuilding and finding purpose back after my own life-changing disability and strokes. A journey that has taken me to incredible places and to achieve incredible things.

2022 was the last time I raced for 24 hours, shortly after, returning to the Paralympic stage with triathlon as part of the GBR Paratriathlon team, culminating in the unforgettable pinnacle of Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Now I'm back on the long road of performance ultracycling.

But this is about far more than miles, speed, or records. It’s about breaking down barriers, redefining expectations, and paving new roads for disability in ultra-endurance sport.

Performing at this level demands relentless physical endurance, mental resilience, and the determination to keep moving through the darkest hours. That same spirit is reflected in every participant who has the opportunity to join an AGS challenge — whether in the mountains, remote landscapes, or the most unforgiving environments.

The AGS Foundation exists to inspire people to achieve the extraordinary by creating opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in expeditions, rediscover purpose and build confidence through adventure, overcome physical challenges, and push beyond perceived limitations. Through raising awareness, going further and climbing higher than believed possible whilst living with life-changing disability, and connecting with like-minded people, the AGS community continues to show what is possible when adversity is met with ambition and resilience. Enabling a generation of disabled people to push beyond their perceived potential.

Through this challenge, I hope not only to push my own limits, support the AGS Foundation as they have supported me, and to also inspire others to believe that disability should never define ambition.

Thank you for being part of the ride.
