Story
Because three children, back to back house renovations and a Masters degree wasn't quite enough to achieve a full marital breakdown, we've decided that spending a rare childfree Saturday trekking 26-miles across the Wiltshire countryside would be the next natural thing to try us.
All jokes aside, my late grandmother, Joan, had a catastrophic accident in the early 2000s which led to the rapid onset of Alzheimer's Disease. We sadly lost her in November 2023, just a few weeks before her 90th birthday. However, in true reality of this disease 'Joan' was lost many years before. The symptoms caused by Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia mean that a person often lives for many years with significant physical and mental health challenges that disrupt their everyday lives. This not only impacts the person themselves but the family caring for them, whilst slowly watching their loved one slip away.
Between Sian and I we are aiming to raise a collective minimum of £600 to donate to Alzheimer's Society. On Saturday 11th May 2024, we are combining our trekking efforts with Mike's superhuman colleagues at Newton Europe, who will not only be great witnesses to the 'domestics' that may ensue, but will also mean that we're set to raise thousands of pounds for this incredible charity!
