Story
Guide Dogs for the Blind is close to my heart for two reasons;
Firstly, I absolutely love dogs. I have had pet dogs all through my life and they have all had and still have the most wonderful lives.
Secondly, my Mum and Dad fostered Guide Dog puppies for around twelve months until the puppies went on for full training.
Mum and Dad fostered three puppies called Slipper, Blossom and Zane. They only stopped at three puppies because Slipper and Blossom were accepted to go on for full Guide Dog training. However, Zane had some minor health issues which did not allow him to go for full training. So my Mum and Dad decided to keep Zane as their pet and what a wonderful life he had for around 14 years.
Sadly my Mum passed away in 2010 but my Dad will be 89 years young at the time of this years London Marathon. My Dad was absolutely delighted when I was accepted by Guide Dogs to support them through the marathon.
I would be hugely grateful if you help support Guide Dogs and myself through my London Marathon run. Every little bit helps.
I have included some details below about the great work that Guide Dogs do and the associated costs for these activities;
Every day, 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss. This number is set to double by 2050, which is why our work is more important than ever before, however, we can only continue our life-changing work, such as our guide and buddy dog services, mobility training, education support, sighted guides and much more with your support.
With your support, we can help children and adults to live actively, independently, and well.
How your sponsorship could help:
£125 could buy a starter kit for a new guide dog owner, containing everything they need to start life with their new dog.
£451 could provide the parents of a child with a vision impairment with ten sessions of support.
£1000 could pay for an entire family to attend our Family weekend, where they can access specialist support and meet other families in similar situations.
Guide Dogs wouldn't be here without you. Our life-changing services depend on donations so thank you for supporting us.
