Story
In April 2026, I will be running the London Marathon — my first ever full marathon — at the age of 57.
This is something I never quite found the time or courage to do earlier in life. I’ve run several half marathons over the years, but a full marathon always felt like a step too far. Family, work, responsibilities, and the general busyness of life always came first.
Having said goodbye to my team at Isosceles Finance — such a big part of my life for so many years — I now have, for the first time, the gift of time: time to train properly, time to test my limits, and time to take on a challenge that genuinely scares me.
Running 26.2 miles is not something I’m taking lightly. The training is demanding, the cold, wet early mornings are real, and there will no doubt be moments when it would be easier to stop. But that is exactly why I’m doing it.
In taking on such a massive challenge, I wanted to support a charity that makes a real difference to so many people, in so many places across the world. I am proud to be running this marathon in support of CAFOD, a charity I have supported throughout my life.
CAFOD’s work with some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities — responding to emergencies, fighting injustice, and helping people build lasting livelihoods — is something I deeply believe in.
At a time when many people around the world face hardship through no fault of their own, CAFOD’s values of dignity, compassion, and solidarity feel more important than ever.
I am raising funds through JustGiving, and every donation — no matter the size — will make a genuine difference. Your support won’t just help me get around the course on 26 April; it will help CAFOD continue its life-changing work around the world.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, and for any support you are able to give.
