Story
Many of you will know my little sister Mary. Mary loves TV and film, boxing, diet coke and her friends and family. She has a generous heart and a wicked sense of humour, and she also has Bardet-Biedl Syndrome.
Mary was diagnosed when she was one years old, and it has impacted her health in many ways, most notably her eyesight.
Having a child diagnosed with a rare genetic syndrome (affecting 1 in 250,000 people) was an incredibly scary time for my parents. We were connected with BBSUK and since first being put in touch with them, as a family we started attending their conference weekends and found them an amazing source of support. They support many families and people with BBSUK across Britain and Ireland, and connect hundreds of people who live with BBSUK, giving them social opportunities and access to support services.
My little sister Mary has always shown such strength and bravery through everything she has been through and I have always wanted to do something to help but didnt know what. Well now I have my opportunity.
I'm running the 2026 London marathon on behalf of BBSUK so please help me support this amazing charity and the work they do.
Please see further info on the charity below.
Bardet-Biedl Syndrome UK is the only registered charity supporting people with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS), their families and carers in the UK. We are a user led organisation, represented by adults with BBS and parents of children with BBS.
We support over 640 people diagnosed with BBS and their families; along with professionals involved in all aspects of the care and support of people with BBS in the UK.
Our vision is for people with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome to understand their condition, to feel valued and to thrive.
