Story
Swim the river. Change a life.
This summer I’m taking on one of the UK’s wildest open water swims, a 10km cold water swim near Snowdonia. This will be my second chance to swim this event though the last one was cancelled because of bad weather.
It’s a huge challenge. Big nature, beautiful scenery, and hundreds of swimmers all taking on something epic together but because of the geography, it will be very exciting - upstream on a rising tide with a significant tidal 'push'.
I’m doing it to challenge myself, to complete a set of three swims I started 8 years ago and, importantly, to raise money for Level Water – a brilliant charity providing 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities. These lessons are joyful, empowering, and completely life-changing; it took me until I was 62 to feel the thrill of open water swimming and I want to give children with disabilities the chance to get that same feeling.
Every £15 raised gives a child the chance to learn to swim.
If you can, please sponsor me – it really will make a difference.
