Story

There is no time like the present to be present for others! With this in mind, I have decided to sign up for the Age Scotland Kelpies Abseil Experience.

Why, you might ask? Well, I am a firm believer that ageing is a privilege afforded to the lucky, although it is not without its challenges!

Over the last year, through my role at Heriot-Watt University, I have had the pleasure of engaging with Age Scotland around several collaborative opportunities. Through this engagement, I have learnt that Age Scotland, the Scottish charity for older people, is doing amazing work to improve the lives of people over the age of 50 in Scotland. This includes providing a free helpline, supporting older people’s groups, promoting age and dementia-friendly communities, delivering wellbeing programmes, and campaigning on behalf of older people. The Age Scotland team are serious about serving their members, making a sustainable difference, and adding value in all that they do!

When presented with the opportunity to help fundraise to support their excellent efforts, how could I refuse? Add to this that it is going to be pretty cool to experience the Kelpies up close (despite my somewhat serious fear of heights and less than ideal abseiling skills!)

I will be most grateful for any contribution towards my fundraising effort and extend a massive thank you to those that will support this impactful charity. Lastly, if you're up for a meaningful adventure, please consider signing up to join, I'd love to see you there!
