Story
Over the course of 7 days in February, I will be embarking, with a group of inspiring women, on an incredible journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters / 19,341 feet), the highest peak in Africa.
After months of training and preparation, we will be trekking for 7 days continuously (we will take it slow and steady to give our bodies time to adjust to the high altitude). All being well, this will culminate with the summit night climb, which will involve trekking to the summit of the mountain, setting off at midnight for a minimum 12-hour day of walking, in the dark and in bitter cold and extreme conditions, with a lack of sleep and oxygen!
I am doing this to raise money for a cause that’s close to my heart – the Samaritans - in memory of my lovely and much-missed dad.
The Samaritans provide a lifeline to people who are struggling with their mental health; offering free, confidential support to anyone in emotional distress or at risk of suicide. Their dedicated volunteers are available 24/7, offering a compassionate ear and helping to save lives.
Through this challenge, I hope to shine a light on the importance of mental health support and show that there is always someone ready to listen. The Samaritans’ services are a critical part of providing that support, and every penny raised will help them continue to offer their vital services to those in need.
I would be so grateful for any donations. No donation is too small – every contribution helps to make a difference.
I have self-funded the trip, so every penny of every donation will go to the Samaritans.
If you would like to donate, please do so through the link on this page.
