Mikey and Beth for Helen & Douglas House

Indian Himalayas Trek · 3 October 2026 to 11 October 2026 · Start fundraising for this event
Hi guys,
Some of you may know that I work for Helen & Douglas House, a children’s hospice in Oxford. Before I joined, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect - but what I found is one of the most uplifting and special places. Every day, the hospice brings joy, comfort, and relief to children with life-limiting conditions and their families. I’ve had the privilege of meeting some of the children receiving end-of-life care and witnessing first-hand just how much love and care goes into every moment they spend here.
It’s a place where children are given the chance to experience as much life as possible. Where exhausted parents can breathe for a moment, knowing their child is in safe hands. And where siblings can step away from the heaviness of their situation to laugh, play, and simply be children again.
Mikey and I love adventures and have done so much together- we’ve lived in a tent together for a year (no easy feat!) while driving the lap of Australia, we’ve hiked through the jungle to La Ciudad Perdida in Colombia, swam in the Amazon River with piranhas and pink dolphins, completed the Salcantay trek in Peru, swam with the biggest shark in the ocean in the Ningaloo Reef, and wild camped 100 miles through rural Scotland on foot. We’ve run half marathons, marathons, ultramarathons, and taken on Tough Mudders and triathlons. We’ve even hiked to altitudes matching Everest Basecamp near the Andes.
Now, we’ve decided to turn our love for challenges into something bigger. In October 2026, we’ll be heading to the Himalayas to take on a major trek alongside other supporters raising money for children’s hospices across the UK including Helen & Douglas House.
In the lead-up, we’ll be taking on several other challenges and events in aid of HDH - including a 100-mile hike along the East Highland Way and a 45-mile kayak from Hereford to Symonds Yat – with much more to come!
Mikey will be starting things off with an incredible solo challenge in July 2025: cycling from John o’Groats to Lands End. It’s more than 1,000 miles across the length of the UK, completely self-supported in 2 weeks. It’s a huge undertaking, both physically and mentally—but he’s taking on the challenge for HDH.
We’re doing this because we want to raise as much awareness and money as we can for this amazing charity, the hospice needs to raise £6 million a year to fund the vital work they do, with 87% coming from public support. If you can support us, we’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps Helen & Douglas House continue its amazing work.
