Miles for Matthew

Katie Phillips is raising money for Victim Support
In memory of Matthew Phillips

Marathon Eryri (Snowdonia) · 22 October 2027

Victim Support is an independent charity. We are dedicated to supporting people affected by crime and traumatic incidents in England and Wales and we put them at the heart of our organisation. We provide specialist help and services to support people to cope and recover.

Story

My name is Katie, I am Matthew's older sister, and I am running miles in memory of Matthew Phillips who passed away on 4 January 2025, aged 44 years.

Matthew’s family are keen to raise as much as possible for the Homicide Service of Victim Support, who have helped them so much following the tragic passing of Matthew.

Matthew's cousin Liv and Katie started the fundraising, running the Blackpool Surf 10k, beach run on Sunday, 29 March 2026.

On Sunday, 23 August 2026, I ran Beverley half marathon. This race is where Matthew was murdered and I crossed the exact place during the run.

I had planned to end running Marathon Eryri (Snowdonia), on Saturday, 24 October 2026, it will be the most challenging marathon of my life.

With the arrival of both storm Austen and Boelo left the race organiser with a difficult decision to cancel the race to protect the safety of everyone.

This is not the end, it's a plot twist!

I will deliver Marathon Eryri 2027
