Mini’s Place Appeal:
In light of NASSL playing a part in the safe return of Mini and her babies to her owner, we would like to set up a mother and baby nursery at our shelter in honour of Mini and her story… Mini’s Place.
We are proposing to build 3 mother and kitten unit to accommodate cats with new born kittens and/or pregnant cats to have their babies in quiet comfort with no stress where they can bring up their kittens in a safe and quiet environment
The money raised through Mini's story will be the corner stone for this project. We have decided to name the facility 'Mini's Place' to always remind us here at NASSL of the kindness of all of those people who showed such care and concern for Mini and went the extra mile in trying to find her.
Each unit will be separate from each other, and each will have a play area for the kittens, when old enough, to play in an environment full of enrichment to help with their development.
Each cabin will have heating and electricity. We will call it 'Mini's Place' after the cat Mini who was cruelly stolen and after 14 long months was found and we were able to reunite Mini with her owner.
MINI’S STORY:
Last weekend a call was taken by our vets regarding a cat with young kittens, they had been contacted by a householder who had discovered the little family living in their garden and they were looking for some advice, we were alerted to their plight and they were brought in.
The cat was m/chipped and the owner contacted. The story that unfolded was incredible that it left us all in shock.
Mini had been stolen at the beginning of last year and had been missing for 14mths. The person who stole Mini drove her 200 miles from her home and abandoned her in woodland in Co. Durham, she was 6mths old!
Her bereft owner then started a poster campaign and a social media campaign in the hope of getting her back, she kept Mini in the spot light and never let up, it worked. Mini's story captured the hearts of hundreds of people. A dedicated team of volunteers were also out looking for her, praying for her safe return. That was until last week when Mini with kittens turned up in a garden, 30miles away from where she was first abandoned and 200 miles from her original home.
Mini and her babies have been reunited with a very relieved owner, now safe and sound back home.
The army of people who showed such concern and the number of people who actively searched week after week deserve such praise for their commitment to Mini, well done to all of you.
There are so many little animals out there who are lost and wont have the happy ending Mini has, that is why making sure your pets are chiped and the details are kept up to date such as change of address or phone number.
We are happy to have played a small part in the safe return of Mini.
