Story
I’ve been reading an incredible memoir that’s has kept me up at 2am – unable to put it down, and in tears at the cruelty of humanity. 'War Doctor' is the story of David Nott, an NHS surgeon who has spent over 30 years volunteering on the front line. Today, his foundation trains doctors to work and save lives in war zones like Palestine, Ukraine, and Sudan.
How come I am so lucky to spend my spare time training for triathlons, baking bread, and reading, while other people – with the same aptitude, empathy, and even more courage than me – are dying from starvation and bombs? Simply because of where they were born?
At my gala, I will have a few signed copies to auction off and unsigned copies of his book to sell where 100% goes to the David Nott Foundation. They have trained more than 2300 war doctors.
