Story
I'm hosting a Charity Auction Gala in London on 17 September to raise funds for 4 charities.
I recently discovered that they add up to ABCD, which feels quite special and meant to be.
Alzheimer's Research
This a tribute to my wonderful dad Peyman Luo who worked as a nursing home manager for over 13 years in Denmark. He dedicated his career to improving the lives of people with Alzheimer’s, and every day he witnessed the cruelty of this disease.
Better Burma
My dear friend May Myat Noe had to flee her home after the 2021 military coup. Despite an arrest warrant issued against her, she managed to escape. But millions of people in her home country continue to suffer from civil war, poverty, and recently the earthquakes.
Cancer Research
Sadly, I’m sure most of us have lost a loved one to cancer. For me, this is my 外公 – my mom’s dad. He died from lung cancer when I was six years old: before I had a chance to speak better Mandarin, to improve my spice tolerance, or to take him shopping for a suit to wear at my gala.
David Nott Foundation
I’ve been reading an incredible memoir that’s has kept me up at 2am – unable to put it down, and in tears at the cruelty of humanity. War Doctor is the story of David Nott, an NHS surgeon who has spent over 30 years volunteering on the front line. Today, his foundation trains doctors to work and save lives in war zones like Palestine, Ukraine, and Sudan.
