Mothers' Union Portsmouth Diocese - abseiling down to help families up. Oh my goodness! Thank God ! We did it! Thank you for prayers. The amazing women who did this were: Val, Sally, Jennifer, Ros, Mary, Alison, Esme and Yvette. We hope with your help and your donations more families (of any shape and size) can benefit.
Thank you so much for donating, and if you haven't yet, if you can, please do so, each amount however small can make a huge difference to families who 'are running on empty' and have nothing spare to allow them a change of scene and to be together. Please help!
Some history... Mary Sumner, a woman living in 1876 in Hampshire, England, during a time when women held very limited legal, political and social recognition, created the Mothers Union.
For 150 years, Mothers’ Union has stood beside women and families facing poverty, violence, and injustice.
Now, Mothers' Union is around the world with members in their own countries, (83 countries are now involved.) For members in their communities in poorer countries their work enables some literacy and numeracy. In turn this enables some financial independence and courage to stand against abuse, and develops dignity which shapes the communities with more love, respect and stability.
Donations to the 150th National Challenge will support Mothers’ Union’s charitable work in Britain and Ireland, and overseas, through trusted local partners and members.
This Fundraising Challenge is a huge collective effort, with challenges taking place all over Britain & Ireland, and around the world.
Thank you so much for your donation which really will make a positive difference to families.
