Story
I am taking part in The 2025 Robin Hood Half Marathon on behalf of The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre (JvGCRC).
As many of you know, my Dad died 22 years ago to cancer after a short battle; and more recently, my father-in-law also died of cancer. Sadly, because of the type/stage of the cancers, there was no treatment available for either of them. To watch a loved one suffer is beyond heart-breaking, as many families who are affected by terminal cancer know only too well. So, for many years, supporting cancer research charities has been something close to my heart, which is why I have taken the opportunity to run 13.1 miles to raise money for this very worthy cause!
Based at Nottingham Trent University, JvGCRC specialise in research into blood cancers as well as colorectal, pancreatic and brain tumours.
Your kind donations help to find ways to:
- Diagnose cancer better
- Predict how it will respond to treatment
- Develop ways of boosting the immune system to fight it
The presence of cancer in our lives might remain inevitable — but the scale and devastation of its impact need not be. Your donations help to continue this life-changing work.
Thank you so much for supporting me!
