Hi, my name is Na’ama — musician, composer and the new CEO of the Jewish Music Institute (JMI).
You’ve landed on this page because you care about the future of Jewish music — and I hope you’ll consider helping me raise essential funds to support JMI’s mission.
To donate, just click the blue GIVE NOW button at the top of this page.
What does Jewish music mean today — and who is it for?
Throughout my career — from composing operas and collaborating with leading orchestras, to scoring horror series and experimental sound pieces — I’ve often returned to questions of cultural identity, memory, and tradition. My Jewish heritage has always been part of that journey.
At JMI, I now have the privilege of exploring those questions not only through my own practice, but by supporting a wider community of extraordinary musicians doing so in powerful and unexpected ways.
Since stepping into the role of CEO, I’ve been focused on transforming JMI into a true home for Jewish music in all its multiplicity — bold, diverse, and deeply rooted in both tradition and innovation.
With your help, we can:
Commission and support groundbreaking composers and musicians across genres — from Judeo-Arabic and Ladino to Cantorial new works and Jewish jazz.
Launch the JMI Label, giving a platform to emerging and underrepresented Jewish voices who deserve to be heard.
Turn our JMI Archive — a treasure trove of Jewish sound from across the diaspora — into a living, creative platform for the wider public.
This is in addition to expansion of our existing programmes: The JMI Youth Big-Band, our Renowned Summer Schools (Yiddish Song & Language, Klezfest), and our Joe Loss Lectureship in Jewish Music at SOAS (one of the only two seats in the world).
I know from experience how transformative it is when artists — whether emerging or established are given the time, space, and support to dream and create. Thanks to JMI’s backing, our first commissioned project was recently selected for the prestigious Britten Pears Artist Residency, chosen from over 350 applications. That’s the kind of impact your donation can help us replicate — creating more opportunities, supporting musicians, and ensuring the dialogue continues so that Jewish music not only survives, but thrives.
This campaign isn’t just about raising money — it’s about building a community around living Jewish heritage. Music that resonates. Music that remembers. Music that imagines what’s next.
Any amount you can give — large or small — will make a real difference.

With appreciation,
Na’ama
