Jurassic Coast Challenge 2025 · 17 May 2025 to 18 May 2025 ·

As part of our support for Become, we are pleased to have a team of Mace employees who will be taking part in the Jurassic Coast Challenge (10k) on Sunday 18 May 2025 to raise funds to support care experienced young people.

Story

A few years ago, my life changed dramatically. I lost the use of the left side of my body and suddenly found myself relying on a wheelchair. After being diagnosed with scoliosis of the spine, I underwent major spinal surgery involving the insertion of rods to support my back.

Before all this, I was active—I’d completed the London Moonwalk 'Marathon' three times, with my best time being 5 hours and 56 minutes. The road to recovery was long and often uncertain, but I’m proud to say that I’ve quite literally got back on my feet, ditched the crutches, and am now ready to take on my first physical challenge since.

On Sunday 18 May 2025, I’ll be taking part in the Jurassic Coast Challenge (10K) to raise vital funds for Become, the national charity supporting young people who have experience of the care system.

This challenge is not just personal—it’s also part of something much bigger. From January 2025, the Mace Foundation will be partnering with Become as our strategic charity partner for the next five years.

Together, we aim to:

• Empower care-experienced young people to access opportunities and unlock their potential

• Establish Mace as a cause leader and employer of choice for the care-experienced community

• Support the launch of Propel into Work, Become’s flagship employability programme

Every penny raised from this challenge will be matched by the Mace Foundation, doubling the impact for young people who deserve the same chances as anyone else.

If you’re able to support, donate, or simply cheer me on—it would mean the world.
