62 MILES FOR REFUGE ❤️
Sadly, I think most of us know someone who has been affected by domestic abuse.
I grew up in a violent home and spent most of my life living in fear of my biological father. I still live with the impact of that. Many years ago, I also found myself in a controlling and violent relationship with no idea how I let it happen to me.
But my biggest motivation for doing this is the women I love. I have watched too many women be hurt by men who present themselves to the world as good people. And the impact of domestic abuse reaches far beyond the relationship itself — affecting families, friendships, children and lives long after the abuse has ended.
Women are still abused, still not believed, and still judged for staying rather than supported to leave safely.
I wish that were different. Until it is, I want to do what I can to support women who are living with the impact of domestic abuse.
So, in October, four of us are taking on 62 miles each to raise money for Refuge.
I know 62 miles might not sound like a huge challenge to some people, but for me it will be. It means getting out of the house on days when I don't feel able to, moving when my body doesn't feel capable, and meeting up with friends on days when I don't necessarily have the words.
If you can donate, however much you can afford, we'd really appreciate it. ❤️
