Story
Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
On 11th May 2024, I'll be embarking on an epic adventure: climbing Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, not just once, but ten times in 24 hours—all in support of Tenovus Cancer Care.
Back in 2007, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the tender age of 30. The cover picture is of me climbing Pen Y Fan shortly after cancer and a round of chemotherapy. Ironically, I had more hair then and was carrying less 'timber'. Luckily I made a full recovery, whilst others are not as fortunate. :(
Pen Y Fan stands at 2,907 ft whilst Mount Everest is 29,029 ft. You could say that completing 10 Y Fan is the equivalent of climbing Everest!
To prepare for this event, I’ve stopped drinking alcohol (nearly 4 months now!) and bought walking poles (which I inappropriately thought were for old people and ramblers). My colleagues and I even climbed Pen Y Fan 3 times last week to prepare and I ached for days. The thought of doing it another 7 times on top of this is overwhelming, to say the least.
I'm reaching out to you today to ask for your support. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference in the never-ending fight against cancer.
Strength & honour,
Neil.
