Story
Neil’s Clipper Race Journey
By day, Neil is a dedicated specialist dentist, calm, precise, and committed to caring for others.
But right now he has stepped far outside his comfort zone and into one of the toughest endurance challenges on the planet, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
Taking on Leg 7, Neil is racing across thousands of miles of open ocean, facing unpredictable weather, physical exhaustion, and the relentless demands of life at sea. This is not a luxury sailing trip. It’s raw, intense, and mentally demanding. Crews face sleep deprivation, freezing night watches, powerful waves, and the constant need to perform under pressure.
The Training Behind the Challenge-
Before even stepping onto the race yacht, Neil committed to months of rigorous training and personal sacrifice.
From learning how to handle powerful sails and navigate complex race tactics, to safety drills, survival techniques, and working as part of a high-performance team every element has been earned.
He’s trained in tough sea conditions, practised emergency procedures, and developed the physical strength and mental toughness needed to cope with long days, broken sleep, and high-pressure decision-making.
Great Ormond Street Hospital -
Children’s Charity is an organisation that changes the lives of seriously ill children and their families every single day. While Neil battles waves and wind, children and families are facing challenges far greater than any ocean. This is an opportunity to turn an extraordinary personal challenge into something that can make a real difference.
How You Can Help – we want to raise £10000, in Neil's name by the time he reaches Washington DC on 14th - 16th June to show him how much support and admiration he has back here in the UK.
By supporting Neil, you’re not just backing a race.
You’re supporting:
Life-changing treatment for children
Groundbreaking medical research
Families going through the toughest times imaginable
