Take on the ultimate challenge- walk barefoot over hot embers to raise funds for the Children’s Bereavement Centre. Every step you takes helps support bereaved children and families across Nottinghamshire.

Story

The Children's Bereavement Centre does so much more than it does on the tin. It's a place where children can some and feel safe enough to explore the complexities of grief.

For those of you who don't know, I attended a local incident which sadly resulted in the deaths of two young children. Following that I signposted some families to the centre for help. I have since started a student placement at the centre and have seen for myself the valuable work that happens within the walls of the centre.

I am hoping to raise vital funds to support the children and their families through these challenging times so I am completing the firewalk with my amazing cricket team who I cannot thank enough.

Back for its second year, the Children’s Bereavement Centre Firewalk promises an unforgettable evening of excitement, challenge, and community spirit!

It’s a chance to try something new, step out of your comfort zone, and tick off a bucket list experience—all while raising vital funds for an incredible local cause.

Those brave enough to walk 15 feet barefoot over burning embers will not only test their physical and mental endurance, but also know they’re supporting children and young people coping with the loss or terminal illness of someone they love.

The Children’s Bereavement Centre offers early intervention support to 3–18-year-olds across Nottinghamshire and parts of Lincolnshire. Based in Newark, we’ve helped thousands of families over the past 16 years and remain the only dedicated bereavement support service of our kind in the area. Your fundraising helps keep our services free, timely, and accessible to those who need them most.

What Your Donations Could Fund:

£10: A comfort bear which is given to all primary age children accessing support

£25 could pay for one play therapy session for a child

£50 could pay for crafts and toys to help children express their grief

£100 could pay for memory books to help children remember someone who has died.

I know times are really tough at the moment, but if you can go without that Costa for a day and donate that money over here instead, I'll be massively grateful and will love you forever!
