5K Across the Bay 2024

5k Across the Bay 2024 · 8 September 2024 ·
5K Across the Bay is back but this year it’s to support Staff Wellbeing.
After a successful inaugural event last year, the 5K Across the Bay (5K ATB) open water swim is returning for 2024.
The pressure on clinical staff seems relentless. A number of close colleagues have been profoundly impaired by long-term burnout and some have not returned to work. We know that timely small interventions can support staff. This can allow us to sustain high performance and ultimately it facilitates optimal patient care.
We hope to use 5K ATB to highlight an awareness of mental health and wellbeing, particularly with so many new doctors starting at the trust in August (a vulnerable group). The money will be used to support training for mental health first aiders. It will also help pay for wellbeing events run through the RCHT Wellbeing Hub.

Funds raised for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity, will support staff wellbeing at the NHS Trust.
“During the pandemic, the importance of NHS staff wellbeing was really pushed to the forefront of people’s minds and today there is no less importance on their health and wellbeing and the impact it has not only on themselves, but also on the care they are able to provide to our growing local population,” said Karen Murrish, Fundraising Manager, Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.
