Ironman - Kalmar, Sweden

Story

12 months ago, I agreed to take part in an event which is made up of 3 disciplines. 2 of which I would happily say my ability was ZERO. Luke, who I normally adventure with managed to convince to me say yes to an Ironman, not a half Ironman, but a full Ironman.

So along with Mark, the three of us, who have known each other since primary school signed up to Ironman Kalmar.

2.4 mile swim

112 mile bike ride

26 mile run

September 2025 - I swam 50m for the first time ever, it took a while and it took even longer to get my breath back for the return 50m. Two days later, I went for a 5km run, pulled my calf and limped to the end.

Who would have thought, at the age of 38, I would be learning to swim and run. A massive thank you to all those who have helped me get to this point, I hope it all comes together on the day.

It has been a tough 12 months, but we are about to see if it was all worth it. The cut off time is 16 hrs, what's the worst that can happen.
