The Harlech Sprint Triathlon · 14 April 2024

3rd World Hope concentrates on relief of poverty to disadvantaged communities in Malawi. This involves supplying sustainable resources such as shelter, a clean, safe water supply, land for growing food, educational material, clothes, mosquito nets, blankets and other life saving equipment.

Story

In February 2020 hearts around the world were broken when we learnt that Shaun had lost his life in a motor accident in Malawi where he was delivering aid to his charity 3rd World Hope. Shaun co-founded 3rd World Hope in 2008 after backpacking in Malawi and wanting to give something back. People who met Shaun, however briefly, were changed by him - through his story, his actions, his adventures, his love, his smile, his humility, his very being. I have never met anyone who lived life so fully, who believed in all the good in the world and that anything is possible if you make it possible. Life has never been the same since that day, something always feels missing.

I am completing this challenge for 3rd World Hope, to play a small part in continuing the work that Luck (in Malawi) and Shaun's family are doing to keep the charity and Shaun's legacy going. For Shaun I am doing the Harlech Sprint Triathlon on the 14th of April. The Harlech sprint is a 400m pool swim, 21.5km bike ride and 5km run up to Harlech castle. This is one of three triathlons I am completing this year, in memory of three incredible people I lost that year.

To Shaun, I am forever grateful for all our years of friendship. You played a massive part in some of my biggest adventures and challenges and in who I am today. I know this time you're not here in person to encourage me and push me on but you will be with me if I close my eyes and feel you right there next to me. I promise I won't let dreams be dreams xxx
