Story
I'm taking on the Mid & South Essex Hospitals Charity Abseil 2026.
My name is Nicky and I work in SEW E125 as a ward clerk at Broomfield Hospital. I've been working on SEW since Jan 2021 and the team have always had to borrow a Bladder Scanner from other wards who aren't necessarily a Urology based ward. On my ward they deal with General Surgery and Urology patients daily coming from A&E and we're a very fast moving ward. In order to help my nursing colleagues I want to complete this Abseiling challenge and raise either money to purchase a scanner outright or to go towards one. Therefore I'm going to abseil down the tower at Southend Hospital to raise money for an additional Bladder Scanner on Saturday 16th May 2026.
I have to let you know that I hate heights and once got stuck in my loft. I've also tried to climb Uluru in Oz but got stuck funnily enough at a place they describe as 'chicken point'. Also I was clinging to the chair at the top of the Sydney Tower and couldn't look out at the beautiful view, my friend had to take pictures.
As you can see I really really don't like heights so please can you give generously as I'd really love to be able to purchase this vital piece of equipment and it will make the sheer dread of doing this worth while.
