HMP Cardiff's Rusty Screws 7 Peak Challenge 2025

Nigel Thomas is raising money for Tŷ Hafan

HMP Cardiff's Rusty Screws 7 Peak Challenge 2025 · 5 June 2025

Sadly, thousands of families in Wales live every day knowing their child’s life will be short. At the moment, they often face this without any care or support. Alone. Afraid. Isolated. Tŷ Hafan’s ambition is that when a child’s life will be short, no family should have to live it on their own.

Story

June 2024 saw a new generation of Rusty Screws at HMP Cardiff taking on the 7 Peak Challenge to raise money for Ty Hafan, raising over £8,000 in the process. Over the past four years we've raised over £25,000 for this amazing organisation. Once again we're back in the mountains with the same seven peaks. Ben Nevis, Scafel Pike, Garnedd Ugain, Cadir Idris, Corn Du and Pen y Fan. Over 600 miles of driving and 36 miles of walking all within 36 hours.

We'll be starting at the base of Ben Nevis at 5pm on Thursday 5th June 2025, planning to finish at the bottom of Pen y Fan before 5am on Saturday 7th June. Everyone is welcome once again to join us for our final two peaks - Corn Du and Pen y Fan.

This year Andy's 9 year old daughter Ava wanted to help. She has her own challenge on 17th May walking Pen y Fan TWICE in 5 hours. If you'd like to donate to Ava please use the same link and mention Ava in the comments.

Yet again, please help us, The Rusty Screws, on our 7 Peak challenge and Ava by digging deep into those pockets.
