Team fundraising for The Counselling & Family Centre

Nuria Corcoy is raising money for The Counselling & Family Centre
We provide counselling, support groups, drop in sessions & courses for all in our community from the age of 5 years and upwards who need support for their mental and emotional health needs. No complicated restrictive referrals, no prior form filling, no huge financial barrier - simply come & tell us your story & we will do our utmost to provide appropriate timely support. We work mainly in the Trafford Borough of Manchester, but are spreading into Manchester & Salford to meet the needs of those who are being hit by the squeeze on services being felt across the country. Some quotes from our children's service: 'Feeling happier & less anxious. My relationship has changed for the better with my mum. It’s been really good & really helpful' 'I'm meditating every night. I don’t self-harm (five weeks clean!) & I’m a lot happier with my parents & family. I’m less panicky too. I’m happier in myself & being even more open to others. I talk more & have a more positive attitude & have more energy. You have really helped! I was really reluctant to come but I love it & it turned my world upside down'. 'I made friends with Y3 as no-one from Y4 would play with me. Now I have lots of friends, not just Y4. I’ve been kind & generous to others. I share with others. It’s been fun & I’ve learnt new things.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is our story....

From 22-29 August, Nuria, along with her friends Debbie and Vicky, will be taking on the incredible challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, which is not for the faint hearted!

Then, in January 2027, Lisa, along with her friends Anthony and Sue, will walk the width of Costa Rica, from the Atlantic to the Caribbean coast, crossing wild and demanding terrain in what will be a truly strenuous journey.

Together, they are raising vital funds for the Counselling and Family Centre.

Lisa works on the appointments desk and sees the difference this service makes to people’s lives. She witnesses moments of crisis turning into hope, and individuals finding a way forward when things feel overwhelming. Just £100 can help fund 5 counselling sessions, five opportunities for someone to be heard, supported, and helped through their darkest times.

"Working at CFC for the past 10 years, it has been a privilege to see the impact our service has on couples, families, adults and children. We are a caring and compassionate place to come to. I’m taking on this challenge to raise much-needed funds for a charity that has faced significant funding cuts in recent years, so we can continue to be there for those who need us most."

Nuria has volunteered with the charity for over six years. Through her work in accounts, she sees another reality - the constant challenge of keeping such an essential service running.

"Behind the scenes, there is a dedicated team working tirelessly to make this support possible, often under immense financial pressure. I’m taking on this challenge for them, for the people who give so much of themselves every day, and for those whose lives are changed through the support they provide."

Climbing Kilimanjaro will be really tough. Walking across Costa Rica will push limits. But these challenges are nothing compared to what many people face without access to the help they so desperately need.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help the Counselling and Family Centre continue its vital work, offering hope, healing, and support when it’s needed most.

Thank you so much for your support - it truly means everything.💛
