Raising Funds for Little Dylan

Angela C is raising money for Oldies Club
We launch our Summer Appeal today with the aim of raising enough money to ensure that we can continue taking in older dogs. We really don't want to have to turn away older dogs in need for financial reasons.

Story

Hello, I'm Dylan. I'm having some help writing this, partly because I'm a dog and partly because I'm at the vets today (31 July 2026), for the first of my ear surgeries. May I ask if you could spare a few pounds towards my vet bills, please? Oldies Club, a small, volunteer-run dog rescue charity in the UK, has already spent over £2,500 on my vet bills and that amount is expected to double following the surgery for my ears. You can donate from £2 via this page and anything you can spare would really be appreciated.

If you've missed my initial introduction on the Oldies Club pages... I'm a 12-year-old Cavalier x Lhasa Apso, who came into Oldies Club care earlier in 2026, when my human moved to accommodation where I wasn't permitted to go. Since arriving in the rescue's care, I've had veterinary treatment for my ears and eyes, along with a dental, now today's surgery, with more to follow. I've become quite the expensive little chap, haven't I, but Oldies Club is dedicated to doing all they can to make me as healthy and comfortable as possible, and I'm very grateful.

When it comes to my poorly ears, unfortunately, despite various attempts at treating them, including steroids, daily cleaning, swabs taken and antibacterial drops, the vet advised that there was still evidence of infection deep inside. Things such as chronic bilateral ear disease were mentioned and the vets advised that the best route was a total ear canal ablation and bulla osteotomy surgery. This procedure, which I’m undergoing for one ear today, involves removing the ear canal and creating a larger opening into the middle ear, flushing this chamber thoroughly and trying to remove any underlying infections. The aim is to stop the recurrence of painful infections, which can be difficult to fully resolve with medication alone. I’m very glad to be asleep for this! The ear flap will be retained, but perhaps my ears will be a little wonkier following surgery - hopefully I’ll look even more endearing?!

In addition to my ears, I was started on Optimmune months ago for dry eye, had to have a heart scan to check it was okay for me to have the necessary surgeries - and thankfully, as the results were good, the vet was happy to proceed with my dental and now today’s op. I also have a couple of lumpy areas that will be dealt with while I am under GA for other treatments. It’s also been recommended that I have annual heart scans from here on in.

Could you possibly help Oldies Club with a donation towards my vet bill today? My vet bills alone are expected to exceed over £5,000 once my ears have been sorted, plus the cost of any ongoing medication, and I’m just one of quite a few dogs in the charity’s care.

Thank you, in hope of your kind support.

Love, Dylan

Should Oldies Club supporters be generous enough to donate more than is needed for my vet bills/care, any excess money will be directed to the charity’s general fund and used to help other older dogs in its care.
