Story

Update 6 May 2023: We are delighted to let you all know that GoGo is doing extremely well following her surgery. She had a check up at the vets yesterday and is due to have her stitches removed next week. She has been rolling on her back and seems comfier :-)

*************

Hello! I am GoGo, a very sweet female stripey sofa hound, who came into the care of Oldies Club, a volunteer-run charity that rescues and rehomes older dogs in the UK, in the summer of 2022, after being taken to the vets to be put to sleep :-(

I had a huge lump on my side, as can be seen in one of the photos. Early on in foster, a vet examined the lump and advised Oldies Club that they felt it was too risky to surgically remove the lump, so it remained. In March 2023, Oldies Club decided I should join its sponsor dog scheme for health reasons, meaning I will stay in my lovely foster home, where I enjoy snuggling with a canine friend, forever, with the charity covering my vet bills.

Worryingly, earlier this month, April 2023, my fosterer advised Oldies Club that the large lump on my side was getting bigger. There was a risk of it bursting, which would have been very traumatic for me and would have been unlikely to have had a good outcome :-(

Oldies Club made the decision for the lump to be 'debulked', which involved the removal of as much of the lump as possible. This was a less complicated surgery than a complete lump removal, where there wouldn't have been enough skin left to cover the wound area. I was operated on earlier this week. Everyone at Oldies Club was hugely relieved that I made it through the op - and shocked to hear that the vet removed 900g of lump! My side is looking much flatter now, as you can see in another of the photos.

I was so glad to return to my foster home after surgery, being sent home with painkillers and antibiotics, with a number of check-ups to come.

Oldies Club has received a vet bill for £901.00 for this recent surgery, so I have set up this page, with a little human help, in the hope that dog lovers will donate whatever they can to help the charity cover the bill. You can donate from £2 to this fundraising page.

Thank you!

Love, GoGo x

Should Oldies Club supporters be generous enough to donate more than is needed for my vet bills/care, any excess money will be directed to the charity’s general fund and used to help other older dogs in its care.
