Colleagues from across KPMG North offices are participating in the Manchester Half Marathon to raise money for FareShare.

FareShare is the UK's biggest charity tackling food waste to support social good. They take good-to-eat surplus food from across the food industry, sort it in regional warehouses across the UK, and pass it onto a network of over 8,000 charities and community groups to provide food to nearly one million people every week who are going hungry.

Demand for the surplus food FareShare provides is at an all-time high.

- One in six people in the UK are experiencing food poverty, with 3 million of these being children.

- Meanwhile, every year more than 4 million tonnes of food goes to waste.

- 54% of people accessing FareShare services are in full-time work.

During the last financial year:

- FareShare redistributed the equivalent of over 134 million meals - that's 4 meals every second.  

- The 56,000 tonnes of food redistributed stopped 100,000 tonnes of CO2 going to waste.
