Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm raising money throughout September for PCOS/PMOS Awareness Month. My goal is to go at least 8 km a day - through cycling, rowing, walking or running - to represent the 1 in 8 women who live with PCOS/PMOS.
My fundraising target is £240, since I'll hopefully have travelled over 240 km in September. I am raising money for Verity, which is a charity that empowers women with PMOS through spreading awareness for and providing a wider understanding of the condition. They have an active discussion board and various social media communities so women living with the condition can find support, as well as many resources to help educate anyone and everyone about PMOS.
PCOS/PMOS is a metabolic condition which can affect almost every aspect of a person's health. Common symptoms include chronic inflammation, chronic depression, anxiety and fatigue, hair thinning, excess hair growth, weight gain, acne, and irregular periods.
I got diagnosed with PMOS about 2 months ago now but have been suffering with the symptoms for about 7 years prior, so since I was about 12 years old. I had to fight to be taken seriously by my doctors for years and I received virtually no support after I was diagnosed. I had to seek out medical professionals myself, barely knowing a thing about PMOS, because with social media and virtually no awareness of the condition amongst GPs, I had no idea what PMOS even was.
I'm now on my own journey of learning how to manage the condition, and I want to use my experience to help raise awareness so that others can find help, support, and understanding more easily and sooner than I did.
Any donation will help me get closer to my goal, and support Verity's work. Thank you so much for supporting me!
