Creating a life size Metal Welsh Dragon
We provide specialist palliative care to comfort patients and their families

Story

For over 25 years staff here at Nightingale House Hospice have created an environment that gives patients and their loved ones quality time to spend together. Not having to worry about the care a loved one receives, knowing they are in safe hands means every second spent together is dignified and peaceful. Without support such as yours, our specialist palliative care units wouldn’t be able to deliver such high standards. We want to raise as much as we possibly can for this wonderful charity. To do this, we are creating a life sized Welsh Dragon, named " Dixie" after Wrexham FC Legend Dixie McNeil, who came to meet us and our Dragon at the Workshop. Our plan is to make Dixie The Dragon a fire breather and he will eventually get donated to Wrexham Football club. Dixie The Dragon will feature on Welcome to Wrexham series 3 and also on ITV news. Dixie will be made with over 1000 hand cut metal scales and tones of hand cut sharp teeth. We have very kindly been donated £100's worth of sheet metal from the Amazing JB Fabrications, Wrexham to help us create Dixie.

About the charity

Nightingale House offers a wide range of facilities to local people and their families living with life-limiting illness. Patients come from Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and outlying areas. In 2024 it will cost £4,900,513 million to run the Hospice - this equates to nearly £13,389 per day.
