Story
On 11th July 2023, unfortunately it was our family’s turn to hear the devastating ‘C’ word, as our daddy, James, was diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer.
Daddy has always been a source of such joy and good humor to many. He loves a good punchline, a great story, and talking football. Despite his ‘big’ age of 63, he has always been fit and active, whether that be running, out rowing on the Lough where he was raised or, more recently, keeping up with his beloved grandchildren.
Daddy will begin his treatment on Monday 4th September, receiving daily radiotherapy for six weeks with a weekly dose of chemotherapy in addition. In solidarity, his children (and their partners) have committed to run at least 5k per day for the next 6 weeks, for each day of treatment daddy receives. We acknowledge that this is nowhere near equal to the physical demand of what daddy will go through, but hope it shows that we are with him every step of the way.
We would love to raise money for Macmillan as we do this. Like other families in our situation, we have and will continue to benefit from the support that the Macmillan team offer and hope that even in the most difficult of situations, we can do some good by raising money to fund their efforts.
All donations made via this link go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support and would be very much appreciated.
Thank you!
