On the 26th Oct I will be running the Monsal Trail half marathon raising money for Cure DM.

Cure DM is a registered charity which provides help and support to those living with Myotonic Dystrophy. I will be raising funds to support my grandson Toby who was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy shortly after birth.

Here's a short supportive statement from his mum Becky who has also recently been diagnosed with the same condition.

Hello, we are so glad you are here! This is Pauls Fundraiser for Cure DM supporting the family and Team Toby! We are a family in Wigan and both mum, Becky and little boy, Toby are living with Myotonic Dystrophy. As part of the fundraiser, Paul will be running the Monsal Trail Half Marathon in October to raise funds for Cure DM after his grandson Toby was diagnosed with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 when he was born. Myotonic Dystrophy is a neuromuscular genetic condition that effects the central nervous system and can have a range of symptoms which change and progress over years. Cure DM have been a great sense of comfort and support for the whole family, and we are super grateful for the support and guidance they have given to us. We are looking to help fund vital research and support for the individuals and families living with Myotonic Dystrophy. The Monsal Trail is made up from a former Midland railway line taking you through four railway tunnels and across the spectacular Monsal Viaduct. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, this half marathon is ideal for Spring marathon training. It's suitable for experienced runners but also a great introduction to the half marathon distance for runners of all abilities.
