Big Walk 2025 · 27 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

The Big Walk is back for 2025! On Friday 27 June, walkers will be fundraising for neurological diseases treatments and breakthroughs.

Story

Thank you for visiting this JustGiving page.

On Friday 27 June, Alan, Annie and I will be taking on the Big Walk a 20 mile walk from Ladybower reservoir to Sheffield in support of neurological disease research at the University of Sheffield.

Earlier this year, Tom Gofton, Husband, Father, Father-in-law, Friend and Teacher sadly passed away following a stroke. He is already greatly missed.

As a Sheffield University Science Alumni, he was fascinated by developments in science and, with this in mind, we have made the choice to take part in Sheffield Universities Big Walk supporting Neurological research - in particular research into strokes

By donating to Sheffield’s research, you’ll help to fund vital new treatments that will bring hope to so many people.

Neurological diseases are notoriously difficult to treat, with current treatments masking symptoms rather than curing the root cause of these terrible illnesses.

Your support could truly be a catalyst for transformative breakthroughs that could result in cures for these conditions in our lifetimes.

To think your donation has helped progress towards a cure is something Tom would have been extremely grateful for.

Thank you so much.
