Story
We're four runners - myself (Jeremy), Alex, Lizzy, and Nathan - getting together to run a 13km in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, in memory of a good friend, Dr. Paul Lowe.
We're also joined by 78-yr old Norman in Ayr joining us for a series of 2-mile daily walks, and and Grant down in England joining us remotely for a walk/run!. Thank you gents!
In October 2024, our friend Dr. Paul Lowe was tragically killed. - Paul was an award-winning photojournalist, educator, and mentor who helped shape a global community of visual storytellers. From Sarajevo to Kigali, from Gaza to Grozny, Paul bore witness to history, and taught others to do the same with courage and care.
He believed in journalism as a force for justice and supported young voices from underrepresented regions. He was also a dedicated endurance athlete who found healing in movement and community.
Paul was a friend of mine across many years, knowing each other through photography, and latterly we became closer as we shared our love of running.
A few years ago Paul graciously advised myself and fellow runner Alex, as we took on a cross-country ultra-run challenge. Alex and I are reuniting to do this 13km run in Edinburgh - a central city run so anyone can join us in the park for a run, and to honour Paul's friendship and generosity. We'll be accompanied by some friends.
Join us for a run - one or two loops around Holyrood Park, and optional up to the Arthur's Seat trig point, in Edinburgh, Scotland, or just come support.
We'll meet at the pond in front of Scottish Parliament main entrance at 12noon, on Saturday 27th September.
And if you can please donate a little, it means a lot.
The Paul Lowe Challenge unites journalism, education, and sport to honour his legacy. Through global rides, runs, and swims, we raise funds for journalism scholarships and support for journalists facing trauma and PTSD.
Join us in carrying forward Paul’s mission, to tell the stories that matter and to care for those who tell them.

Many thanks,
Jeremy (@JshPhotog), Alex, Lizzy, and Nathan.
