Paul's fundraiser for Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Benevolent Fund

Paul Pickford is raising money for Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Benevolent Fund

Team: Reigate Roadsters "Ride to the Rock" for Prostate Cancer UK & DMRC

Reigate Roadsters Ride to the Rock · 16 September 2026

The DMRC Benevolent Fund purchases special goods and services for patients' rehabilitation, beyond that which is provided by the public purse. We create opportunities for patients to engage in social activities, which lets them forget about their injuries and rehabilitation for a few hours.

Story

Paul's story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Reigate Roadsters JustGiving page.

We're a bunch of cyclists from Reigate, who have ridden together for a number of years.

As I enter retirement in 2026 I wanted to commit to a physical challenge worthy of asking for sponsorship.

To that end, we have decided to embark on a 10 day cycle from Bilbao in the north of Spain on the Atlantic Coast, to the Rock of Gibraltar on the coast of the Mediterranean in the South - a trip of 1,000km, with 10,000m of climbing.

Our causes:

Prostate Cancer UK

Several of us are, or have been affected by Prostate Cancer ourselves or within our families, and it is therefore a subject close to our hearts. We strongly believe that with the right screening programme, many more lives could be saved from this all too common form of cancer.

The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre

The DMRC was originally started at Headley Court, very close to us in Reigate, and is the birthplace of the Paralympic movement. It has now been moved to Loughborough, and merged with the National Health Service wound rehabilitation centre to form the DNRC (Defence & National Rehabilitation Centre). The work they do with our injured service men and women is an inspiration.

Please give what you can and support us in our slightly mad trip to cycle Spain from North to South.

Many thanks

Paul, Chris, Dave, Gareth and Adrian

(and not to forget our generous support driver, James)
