I'm running the Hackney Half Marathon for ActionAid to stand in solidarity with women and girls around the World. I am doing this in honour of my Grandmother who contributed so much to communities, especially women and girls, with resilience and sometimes nothing at all but compassion and grace. ActionAid puts the rights of women and girls at the heart of all they do because the denial of these rights is one of the biggest causes of poverty worldwide, and a grave injustice. They partner with local communities, women's networks, and other allies to address the structural causes and consequences of gender inequality and poverty.

Their three main areas of work are:

1) Ending violence against women and girls

2) Promoting women’s economic empowerment

3) Prioritising women’s rights and leadership during humanitarian emergencies
