Story
In June 2026, I’ll be taking on one of the toughest and most iconic cycling challenges in the UK — riding around 900 miles from Lands’ End to John O’Groats over 10 days as part of Team YoungMinds, raising funds for the UK’s leading youth mental health charity, YoungMinds. It’s a huge physical and mental challenge that will push me well outside my comfort zone, but it feels small compared to the challenges many young people face every day with their mental health.
This cause is deeply personal to me. I’m a dad to three young girls and like all parents, I want them to grow up happy, confident and resilient. But growing up today brings pressures that didn’t exist in the same way before, constant online comparison, social media, academic pressure and the uncertainty of the modern world. I hope my girls never need mental health support, but I know that if they ever do, I would want someone to be there for them and for us as parents, with understanding, expertise and care. Supporting YoungMinds helps make sure that safety net exists for them, when it’s needed most.
YoungMinds works to stop young people’s mental health from reaching crisis point, offering vital support to young people as well as free and confidential help for parents and carers. With 1 in 5 young people experiencing a probable mental health condition, this work has never been more important.
Donation helps keep these services going, and every penny really does count, so please give as much as you can. Your support won’t just help me reach the finish line — it could help ensure that a young person gets the support they need at the moment it matters most.
