Story
As we approach the third year of the Gaza apocalypse, almost the entire Gaza strip: all standing buildings, hospitals and civilian infrastructure have been bombed.
The population, half of whom are children, are starved into a famine according to the UN, sniped, bombed, injured with many amputated without anaesthetic and antibiotics. Just imagine.
To put in context, Gaza is 365km2, while Hiroshima City is 906km2. Yet by April 2025, according to Bradford University, 6 times the equivalent tonnage of the Hiroshima bomb was thrown on Gaza. All deliberate, targeted and high tech.
While hope fades there is still something we can all do and that gives meaning to our humanity and the lives of the struggling survivors in Gaza.
When I did my first swimathon for Gaza's children in 2023 and then the second one in 2024, never did I think that this unprecedented suffering in human history would be going into a third year.
So, again, I am doing another 5 kilometre swimathon on 16 November for Gaza and their long suffering children. All the proceeds will go directly to Oxfam's Gaza Crisis Appeal.
I would be grateful for your support.
Many thanks,
Pendar
