Story
As the interim Chairperson of the Friends of Corinium Museum Committee I am asking for your support to raise funds for the Corinium Museum to conserve and treat a very rare Roman Eagle and Hare brooch
The brooch, which dates to the second-century AD, was found at Kingshill South, just outside the old Roman town walls of Cirencester, on a dig held between 2008-2010.
It is a rare design of an eagle with a hare in its beak and talons, and is the only one like it in the museum’s extensive Roman jewellery collection. Once it has been conserved, it can go on display in the museum’s galleries.
If you are interested in the history of the Cotswolds why not become a Friend of Corinium Museum and become involved in helping to preserve our heritage.
Why not drop in to the Corinium Museum in Cirencester on Park Street to see the amazing artefacts we have on display, many have been funded by donations received through the Friends.
