Story
I am running for MQ as I love their mission to better understand, treat and prevent mental illness.
2025, my second London Marathon for MQ ... time to do the challenge again!!
I ran the 2023 London Marathon for MQ, my first marathon, unfortunately I didn't get a ballot entry for 2024, so ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 7th April 2024 for MQ.
My "why" story is at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/peter-robinson26point2 and in p3 of https://www.mqmentalhealth.org/wp-content/uploads/MQ-fundraising-Pack.pdf. My half marathon page is at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/peter-robinson85 With your help we have raised over £4,100 for this great cause in the last year. I'd love your help to keep building on that in 2025!
Like many, our family and friends are impacted by mental health issues and every little people can offer in support, helps to improve the treatment and quality of life for others.
Another reason I support this area is more personal, my son Tom was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), which is a broad term for a number of mental health issues. He has had a long journey, working through many social & learning difficulties, various health & medication hurdles and is now on the way to completing a Law Degree at University.
More funding and specialised research can improve this imbalance and other people’s treatment and quality of life. If you can spare some change, set aside what would have gone on a coffee, it all helps and every piece of generosity in spirit and financial support is welcomed.
Stop and think for a second: You will all know someone with a mental illness whether you can observe it or not …
We’re MQ, the mental health research charity. We transform lives through research, helping to create a future where mental illnesses are understood, effectively treated and one day prevented. Right now, one in four people in the UK are living with a mental health condition. Our scientists investigate a huge range of issues: depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and more. We’re bringing together everything from cutting-edge neuroscience to social studies to find the answers we need. Better is possible.
THANK YOU!
