Story
As some of you who know us may know, our little girl is 5 and has autism and is non-verbal. She attends a special needs school and even though she faces many challenges, she is our happy, giggly, smiley princess
Acorn Village, while being a place for adults like our daughter, have already been there for us. Before she started school we went to their sensory room every week and this was her happy calm place that she loved.
They also have an amazing coffee shop on site that anyone can visit, with lovely food and drinks. This too is her happy, safe place where we can go, have a snack and know she can run around without judgment or worry.
So I am running a 10k (Mayflower 10k) in Mistley on 10th August, in support of Acorn village.
Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated to support a place that we, as a family would love, and need to be here in the future for our daughter and family.
Acorn Village
Wow, thank you for joining the team of fundraisers celebrating 50 years since we opened the doors for adults with learning disabilities. All those completing a challenge will help us to be able to continue to enhance the lives of adults with learning disabilities and make a difference. We strive to continue to fulfill the motto 'Life is for Living' making sure every adult lives their life to their full potential achieving skills and life ambitions.
beyond 50 years ago it is highly unlikely that adults with learning disabilities would not have been given the opportunities as Acorn Village strives to offer. People with learning disabilities were often segregated from the community, hence the need for places such as Acorn Village. Thank you for helping us beat taboos and provide opportunities changing many peoples lives.
