Story
I turn 50 on the 28th March 2025 and I am aware that not everyone gets that opportunity.
On 27th April, I am running the London Marathon in support of Isabel Hospice to help them continue to deliver their vital palliative care.
I lost 3 friends over 3 years to cancer; unlike me, Jayshri and Sam did not get to celebrate their 50th birthday and Kelly was just 51-years-old. Diseases like cancer and many others can be cruel and do not discriminate between the young and old.
Jayshri, Kelly and Sam were 3 young ladies with determination, positivity and drive, always running through life with a smile. They gave everything they had to live, but very sadly had to leave behind their family, friends and beautiful young children.
I want to take on this small task as a testament to the journey these wonderful ladies had to face, along with so many others with different stories to tell.
I’m determined not to let my friends down; I know this won’t be a walk in the park, but I am inspired by my late friend’s catchphrase, ‘Shut up and run!’
