Story
Over 75,000 young people in the UK need to use a wheelchair to be mobile. Unfortunately, they cannot access the equipment that meets their needs through local services. Whizz Kidz are here for all of them.
This local cute toddler needs a wheelchair - the one on the picture, which he is fast outgrowing, had to be custom made in the US and is not available on the NHS. But he is a much happier boy for it (and an expert in sharp corners).
Whizz Kidz is the UK’s leading charity supporting young wheelchair users up to 25 years old. They empower young wheelchair users with the equipment, support, and confidence-building experiences they need to take an active role in society.
When our own Stanley broke their leg and ended up in a wheelchair during Covid, aged 10, it became clear how traditional wheelchairs often fall short in many environments—from sandy beaches to rugged mountain trails, and even on ordinary pavements.
We are excited to announce that Jack and Isabel, 18 y/o twins, and Melanie (mum) will be participating in the London Marathon on April 26, 2026, with an ambitious target of raising £5,000. This event is not just about running; it’s about supporting long-term young wheelchair users and their families so they can lead active lives filled with joy and adventure.
Join us in this important mission! Your support can help provide essential resources and opportunities for these incredible young individuals. Together, we can make a difference!
