Story
In March 2026, we - James Colliver and George Sinclair, serving Royal Marines - will attempt Project Mons 2.0.
A non-stop challenge to climb until we’ve gained the equivalent elevation of Olympus Mons, the tallest mountain in the solar system: 21,900m from base to peak.
This is our second attempt.
In October 2025, we attempted the challenge on Ben Nevis. Partway through, injury forced us to stop. It wasn't dramatic - just the slow realisation that continuing would do more harm than good. Walking away unfinished was humbling and frustrating, but it was the right call.
Project Mons 2.0 is about rebuilding, managing risk, and having the discipline to return and finish what we started. Those same values sit at the heart of The Royal Marines Charity, providing long-term support that helps people rebuild, manage change and move forward when things don't go to plan.
We're also proud to be raising funds for Millimetres 2 Mountains, who support people recovering from injury, trauma, and major life setbacks through outdoor adventure and mentorship.
You’re currently on our Royal Marines Charity fundraising page. If you’d also like to support Millimetres 2 Mountains, you can do so via our Millimetres 2 Mountains fundraising page.
Both charities are doing vital work, and your support will make a real difference.
