8 Peaks. 8 Restaurants. One Team.

This year, the team at Permanently Unique Group HQ is heading to the Lake District to take on the 8 Peaks Challenge — one peak for each of our restaurants across the UK.

We're doing it to raise money for Prehabilitation for Cancer supported by the Tim Bacon Foundation; a cancer research project run by Manchester Metropolitan University looking into the best prehabilitation methods to help patients get stronger, physically and mentally, before cancer treatment begins, so they can cope better and bounce back faster.

Chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery take an enormous toll on the body. The research is clear: people who go into treatment better prepared — through tailored exercise, nutrition and wellbeing support — tend to tolerate it better, recover more quickly, and come out the other side stronger, physically and emotionally. It's a simple idea with a huge impact: giving people an active role in their own recovery, rather than just waiting for things to happen to them.

Right now, that kind of support isn't available to everyone who needs it. We want to help change that.

This isn't our first challenge. Over the years, our HQ team has taken on the National 3 Peaks in 24 hours and run 10k across each of our 5 UK cities in a single day — raising over £23,000 for Prevent Breast Cancer along the way. Eight peaks, representing eight restaurants, feels like the natural next step.
