Team: Pushing Limits for Lives

Roadford Lake Triathlon Autumn Iron Distance Triathlon · 31 August 2025

We help the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland's largest children's hospital, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

Story

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity

My niece’s life has been profoundly impacted by Aicardi syndrome, a rare genetic neurological condition that primarily affects girls. It is characterized by the absence of a structure in the brain called the corpus callosum, seizures, and developmental delays. Aicardi syndrome requires complex and ongoing medical care, which has led her to spend significant time at Glasgow Children’s Hospital. The care, expertise, and compassion provided by the hospital staff have been a beacon of hope for our family. By raising funds for this incredible institution, we can contribute to their ability to support countless families like mine.

The Challenge Ahead

I will be competing in an Iron-distance triathlon, which is one of the most gruelling endurance events, consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run—all to be completed consecutively within a single day. Preparing for this event requires intense training, unwavering commitment, and mental resilience, reflecting the spirit of the causes I am supporting.
