Raising money for Scottish Action for Mental Health and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity

Story

I am reaching out to invite you to be part of an inspiring journey as I prepare to compete in an Iron-distance triathlon in August 2025. This is not just a personal challenge; it is an opportunity to support two causes close to my heart: Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health).

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity

My niece’s life has been profoundly impacted by Aicardi syndrome, a rare genetic neurological condition that primarily affects girls. It is characterized by the absence of a structure in the brain called the corpus callosum, seizures, and developmental delays. Aicardi syndrome requires complex and ongoing medical care, which has led her to spend significant time at Glasgow Children’s Hospital. The care, expertise, and compassion provided by the hospital staff have been a beacon of hope for our family. By raising funds for this incredible institution, we can contribute to their ability to support countless families like mine.

SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health)

Mental health is a deeply personal cause for me. I lost my older brother to mental health struggles, a devastating reminder of how critical it is to provide support for those in need. SAMH is at the forefront of offering mental health support and raising awareness across Scotland. Supporting their mission means honouring my brother’s memory and helping others find the strength and resources they need.

The Challenge Ahead

An Iron-distance triathlon is one of the most gruelling endurance events, consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run—all to be completed consecutively within a single day. Preparing for this event requires intense training, unwavering commitment, and mental resilience, reflecting the spirit of the causes I am supporting.

How You Can Support

I am not seeking sponsorship to cover any costs associated with this triathlon; every contribution will go directly towards maximizing donations for these two charities. Your support can make a tangible difference in ensuring these organizations continue their vital work. Any donation, no matter the size, will help create a lasting impact for Glasgow Children’s Hospital and SAMH.

Join Me on This Journey

I am dedicated to making this triathlon a milestone achievement not just for me, but for the lives it will touch. Together, we can make a meaningful impact. Your encouragement and support mean the world to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey. Let’s work together to make a difference for Glasgow Children’s Hospital and SAMH. Please choose which charity you would like to support below.
