Save Lives in Kensal Rise and Carleton Vale

Queens Park junior parkrun is raising money for Friends of Kensal Rise Library
“Queens Park Defibrillator ”
Having defibrillators nearby can improve someone’s chances of surviving cardiac arrest by 70%. But Kensal Rise and the neighboring streets have poor defib coverage. Help the Library raise money to install defibrillators for our community.

Story

Queens Park London junior parkrun is joining other local organisations to support fundraising for new defibrillators. Specifically one that will be available to children, parents and grandparents at junior parkrun.

Currently our nearest defibrillator is located in the park warden's hut - often locked and always a long way from our start and finish areas. With funds raised there will be a 24/7 defibrillator available close to our start and available to local residents at all times. We are targeting £3000 to pay for this.

Please help if you can afford to contribute.

Thank You.

Queens Park London juniors Event Director.

Each year in Britain around 30,000 people are struck by sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital environments. They can affect anyone at any time -- from young children at school to adults when they're at home, work or in public places. If victims aren't treated properly, more often than not, cardiac arrests are fatal. That's why it's so important to have defibrillators that provide high-energy electric shocks to the heart in as many public places as possible - if a defib is used within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest, survival rates jump from 6 to 74 percent.

Kensal Rise has been designated a priority area by the London Ambulance Service because it needs defibrillators. That's why Kensal Rise Library is asking for everyone's help to install one on their outside wall and also - together with the local sports group KensalTri - is looking to raise money for a second defib in Carleton Vale, another area where defibs are needed.
